Which are the important topics asked in the IBPS PO Prelims exam?

Education

IBPS PO 2021 exam will be conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officers in different public sector banks in India. The IBPS PO Prelims exam 2021 is to be conducted from 04th to 11th December 2021 and the IBPS PO 2021 Mains Exam is to be conducted in January 2022.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate must be an Indian.
  • The age limit must be 20-30 years old.
  • The candidate must have a graduate degree or should be applying for it.

The IBPS PO Prelims Exam is conducted for 1 hour and 20 minutes for each section. The examination has three sections of 100 questions with a maximum score of 100 marks. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each answer. The candidates need to qualify all three sections for the IBPS PO Main exam.

Reasoning Ability

The syllabus in this section is enormous and any questions can be asked. This section gives a last minutes surprise and there are certain topics that totally carry the most attention.

  • Puzzles– This section carries almost 15 marks, so to ace this exam you need to practice enough to understand the questions and the pattern. The questions that can be asked are from Linear Puzzles, Circular Puzzles, and also Floor puzzles are been seen. You can prepare puzzles at BYJU’s Exam Prep.
  • Inequalities– This is the most important and time-consuming topic. You need to learn certain tricks to ace the exam. Remember, you cannot afford to lose a single mark in this section.
  • Blood Relation and Direction Sense- You can expect almost 2-3 questions from this section. This section is also a time-consuming section, so you need to practice a lot to know all the tricks and use them in your examination.

Quantitative Aptitude

  • Data Interpretation- This section is comprised of bar graphs, tables, and line graphs, and these are the important questions usually asked. We have even noticed that sometimes two graphs emerge from one question. You need to have a strong understanding to solve this section.
  • Arithmetic– The topics asked in this topic are questions on Age, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Time and Work, etc. DI is also expected to be asked in this section, you cannot afford to miss this topic.
  • Number Series- You can expect 5-7 questions from this section and they can be solved easily with little practice. The question that can be asked is Missing number series, Wrong no series, Double series, etc.

English Language

The English Language is an important topic and it consists of 30 questions with 30 marks. This section is too important to be ignored by the candidates. The topics that can be roughly asked are-

  • Reading Comprehension- This topic dominates the whole section which makes it the most important in this section. To ace this topic, the candidates need to practice reading newspapers, reading novels, and even solving paragraphs. The best way to solve RC is to solve it in a stipulated time and measure your speed as well as your time management.
  • Grammar– This is the most important topic in the whole examination. One must not avoid it, the candidates need the knowledge of the formulas and even know the exam pattern. The questions that can ask from this section are  Error detection, fillers, Match the following, etc.
