Tips for Lighting a Cigar for the First Time

Health

If you’re reading this, it’s safe to assume you’ve already ordered your first cigar. Congratulations on joining a group that will continue to surprise you with each passing day.

If you’ve decided to take the plunge and try your first cigar, there are a few things you should know as a beginner. Go through the below-mentioned tips to enjoy your first cigar experience:

STEP 1: SEARCH FOR A QUIET SPACE.

The spot where you smoke your cigar, believe it or not, will make or break your first cigar experience. A cigar lounge is typically a good option because it is a comfortable place where people value each other’s personal space.

STEP 2: Choose THE PERFECT CIGAR.

For your first time, you’ll need to find a great cigar. Don’t worry about getting the room’s highest, darkest, and most strong cigar. When your palette matures, you’ll have more time to play with all of that. For the time being, focus on enjoying a smooth, tasty cigar without overwhelming your mouth and nose.

STEP 3: CUT YOUR CIGAR IN THE APPROPRIATE MANNER.

Cutting your cigar can seem easy and unworthy of certain lines, but it can make a huge difference in the quality of your cigar smoking experience. Premium cigars have three caps on average, never less than two. The cigar’s foot is held together by the cap, which closes up the tobacco leaves as they are rolled. It is important that you cut your cigar with a razor-sharp knife and that the cut is only long enough to remove the first tip.

STEP 4: Preheat the oven to 350°F and toast the bread.

Most people’s first impulse is to take out the lighter and place the flame directly on the cigar, puffing on it until it lights. Please, please, please don’t do that. Instead, keep the cigar at an angle and light it with your lighter without allowing the flame to hit the leaves. The heat from the lighter is sufficient to begin generating smoke.

Phase 5: DO NOT BREATHE!

Sucking the air softly and filling your mouth with the delicious smoke is the proper way to smoke a cigar. Enable the smoke to remain in your mouth for a few seconds before gently blowing it away. Concentrate on the aromas generated by the smoke in your mouth and the air around you.

STEP 7: TAKE YOUR TIME

Please take your time between puffs because cigars are intended to be enjoyed and appreciated during the smoking session. For beginners, we usually suggest one puff per minute. This will ensure that your cigar burns evenly, cultivating the desired flavors and, most importantly, avoiding cigar nausea.

STEP 8: SMOKE YOUR CIGAR UNTIL YOU’RE HAPPY WITH IT.

Does it make you happy? Continue to smoke. Doesn’t it feel good? Remove the cigar in the ashtray and walk away? That is everything there is to it. Allowing someone to tell you that you should keep smoking is not a good idea. It’s your first cigar, and you can enjoy it before you’re able to put it down.

After you’ve smoked a few cigars, you’ll notice that you’ve developed your own set of rules and habits, which is perfectly fine. Cigar smoking is a personal and celebratory experience that should be preserved. The most important thing is to have fun and feel good about yourself while doing it.
