Dark Sky Insight
Dark Sky Insight is a quarterly magazine put out by the Our Dark Skies Web Community. In each issue you will find articles on topics of interest to the amateur astronomy community, interviews with notable persons related to the hobby, reviews, observing targets, and stunning photography.
The magazine has three primary writers, Jon Zander (Zooball), Michael Wall (Capella85), and DeWayne Bartels. Steve Ellwood (NightHound) creates the covers; Vincent and Kristi Trigili handle layout and editing. In addition to the official DSI staff, the magazine often features work submitted by its readers, and members of the Our Dark Skies Web Community.
Getting the magazine:
Now that you know what it is, you likely want to know how to get it. There are three simple ways to get your own copy of the magazine. First is become a member the Our Dark Skies Web Community. All members get a free electronic copy of the magaine. Second you can order a printed copy of the magazine directly from the company that handles the printing of the magazine for ODS. Visit [this page] to place your order. The third method requires the use of a chipmunk and a bag of miniature marshmallows, and ODS does not officially support this method.
Submissions to the magazine:
We are always looking for fresh content to add to the magazine. Feel free to contribute anything from the following:
Please craft whatever articles you write in a format that Open Office or MS Word 2003 can easily read. If you submit artwork, please use JPG with minimal compression. When your work is ready, please email it to magazine@ourdarkskies.com. Please note you MUST visit [this page], print, fill out, and mail in the release form there before we can use you work. You only have to do this once.
Advertising in Dark Sky Insight:
We are presently looking for advertisers interested in tapping into the highly targeted audience of Our Dark Skies members. Our community presently has over 220 registered members who have contributed well over a hundred thousand posts, photographs, and articles.
We are asking $50 ( US) for a full color advertisement in the magazine inserted into one of the major articles, or $100 for a full-page full color advertisement. In addition to having the advertisement in the magazine, you would be given the option to have a short text advertisement in the announcement of the release of the magazine that will seen by all members and visitors to ODS. This is a very narrowly targeted audience, as only astronomers or those interested in astronomy come to the site.

Reward Program
As noted above we are looking for advertisers to place advertisements in Dark Sky Insight. We do not currently have anyone on staff that is actively contacting potential advertisers, instead we offer cash rewards to member of Our Dark Skies that bring us advertisers. We will pay you ten percent of what we collect for the first advertisement that you successfully sell for us. More information can be found the message board in [this thread].
